If a sample cannot be ruled out for smallpox by referencing the "Evaluating Patients for Smallpox" poster, or if there is a suspected adverse reaction to a smallpox vaccination, please contact the Epidemiology Section of DHHS to make arrangements for testing at the N.C. State Lab of Public Health.
