Laboratory facilities must meet the criteria as described in the regulations (15A NCAC-20D-.0231-.0261). An on-site evaluation to determine compliance occurs at least every two years. Performance samples must be analyzed semiannually to determine analytical competence. Certification fees must be paid for each analyte group for which certification is desired.

Laboratory facilities must meet the criteria as described in Official Milk Laboratory Evaluation Forms (FD-2400). An on-site evaluation to determine compliance occurs at least every two years. All official examinations required by the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance must be performed by a certified milk analyst. Each analyst must be evaluated on-site for each test performed every two years. Performance samples must be correctly analyzed annually by each analyst. An analyst must work in an accredited laboratory.
